Childhood and early years
Alejandra was born in Lima into a middle-class family. She is the daughter of Sergio Baigorria, a well known driver in the Caminos del Inca Rally and current mayor of the Chaclacayo district, and of the former model Verónica Alcalá, who separated when she was little but kept a good relationship. Alejandra is the eldest of seven siblings, so from a very young age she learned to be responsible and to help at home.
She entered the Universidad de Lima to study business administration, but the family's financial problems forced her to leave the course and go to work. It was precisely that need that led her to take her first step in the commercial world: she began reselling ready-made clothes and foreign-brand garments among her friends and acquaintances, a small business that over time would become a real empire.
Success as the “Gringa de Gamarra”
To be able to pay for her university studies, she started selling clothes she made herself in a small stall in the competitive market of Gamarra, the largest commercial district in Peru. From there comes the nickname “Gringa de Gamarra”, one the public took to immediately.
In 2009 she officially founded her own women's clothing brand, Alejandra Baigorria AB, with its base of operations in the San Pedro commercial gallery in La Victoria. Her entry into the reality show Combate sent sales of her designs soaring. However, instead of living off the programme alone, Alejandra Baigorria reinvested her earnings, opened numerous shops across the country and managed to franchise her brand, proving she had an exceptional business vision.
Her company never stopped growing: in 2021 her brand entered a well known department store at Jockey Plaza, and in 2026 it reached absolute sales records on commercial dates, with shops that literally “were left empty” within hours. The criticism over the prices of her garments did not stop her: she replied that her customers value quality and exclusivity. In July 2026 she surprised everyone with a Lima Metro carriage completely customised with the image of her brand, one of the most talked-about advertising campaigns of the year. She is also the author of the book “Yo puedo, sé que puedo” (2013), where she shares her story of overcoming hardship.
Television career and motorsport
Alejandra's television side began in 2011 on Combate (ATV), where she became one of the most popular contestants thanks to her competitive character and her charisma. She later made the jump to Esto es Guerra (América TV), where she established herself as one of the historic figures of the most successful reality show in Peru, in more than one spell over the years.
She also moved into presenting: in 2016 she hosted the programme Espectáculos on Latina, and that same year she returned to Combate as the new “Chica 10”. In parallel, she inherited from her driver father the passion for motorsport: she has competed in the Caminos del Inca Rally and in other national competitions, being one of the few Peruvian women to stand out in this sport.
Personal life: wedding with Said Palao
The businesswoman's love life has frequently been under the scrutiny of the gossip press. After some missteps and stormy public relationships in the past, she found a lasting relationship alongside the contestant Said Palao.
After getting engaged on a romantic trip to Southeast Asia, the couple said “I do” on April 26, 2025. The majestic event, labelled by many as “the wedding of the year” of Peruvian television, was held in the emblematic San Pedro Church, followed by a luxurious reception in Pachacámac. The wedding was so widely covered that Alejandra herself revealed she earned around 60 thousand soles for the exclusive content of her wedding on Instagram, making it one of the most profitable broadcasts in Peruvian showbiz.
The first year of marriage was not free of turbulence: in March 2026 a paparazzi scoop on Said Palao in Argentina opened a crisis in the couple that Alejandra herself described as “a process”, and on April 26, 2026 they celebrated their first anniversary apart, she in China for work commitments and he competing in Lima.
The dream of motherhood (2026)
One of the most repeated Google searches about her is “Alejandra Baigorria daughter”. Despite what many believe from seeing her photographed with a little girl, Alejandra has no biological children. The girl who appears regularly on her profiles is Caetana, the eldest daughter of her husband Said Palao, whom the businesswoman treats as her own daughter.
In February 2026 the “Gringa de Gamarra” set off alarms by undergoing a fertility check-up that she herself celebrated on social media, where she called herself the “queen of fertility”. Said Palao declared himself ready to be a father in 2026, and Alejandra said he was “desperate” for her to stop taking her contraceptive pills. The news was received with euphoria by her followers. However, in July 2026 the businesswoman explained that she had paused trying for a pregnancy to prioritise her professional projects, although she insists that motherhood “will come when it has to come”.
