Amy Gutiérrez: quick facts

Amy Gutiérrez: childhood and early years

Amy Marlyn Gutiérrez Farro was born on August 25, 1998, in Callao, the port region next to Lima. She showed an interest in singing from childhood, which led her to enter talent competitions while still a minor.

Her big opportunity came in 2014, when she entered the first season of La Voz Kids Perú. Guided by the Mexican singer Kalimba, her coach on the show, Amy won and received a contract with Universal Music Perú, something unusual for such a young artist in Peru at the time. The contract marked the formal start of her music career, before she had reached adulthood.

In the years after her television win, she trained within established groups, a step many Peruvian salsa artists consider essential before pursuing a solo career.

Amy Gutiérrez: professional career

Amy Gutiérrez’s career has three distinct stages: her television debut as a child prodigy, her time with established salsa orchestras and, finally, the development of her own solo career.

Key career milestones:

• 2014: wins the first season of La Voz Kids Perú and signs with Universal Music.
• 2017-2018: joins the all-female group Son Tentación, recording covers such as “Huele a peligro” and “Mayores”.
• 2018-2019: forms the duo You Salsa with Jean Pierre Puppi, releasing original tracks such as “¿Cómo se perdona?” and “No te contaron mal”.
• September 2019: releases her first solo single, “No sé”, co-written with Álvaro Rod.
• May 2023: releases “Valiente”, her debut solo album, with nine original compositions.

After leaving You Salsa in 2019, Amy chose to write her own material rather than rely on covers, setting her apart from other Peruvian salsa performers who emerged from talent shows. Her album “Valiente” consolidated that decision: nine original songs reflecting a more mature stage of her career.

Alongside music, Amy entered acting, adding another facet to her work. At Famosix, we follow her development from the child who won a singing competition to the artist who now writes her own songs.

Amy Gutiérrez: personal life

In March 2022, Amy Gutiérrez publicly said she identifies as pansexual. Her statement received widespread media attention in Peru, and she shared it as part of her personal journey.

The singer has kept her romantic life relatively private, focusing in public appearances on music and acting projects rather than relationships. There is currently no confirmed information about a partner, so at Famosix we avoid speculation.

She spoke about her sexual orientation at a time when public discussion of diversity in Peru was gaining more space in mainstream media. Amy was among the first young figures in local music to address the subject from her own experience without making it the central theme of her career. At Famosix, we value her decision to keep the focus on her musical and acting work, treating the statement as one part of her biography rather than a label that defines her entirely.
