TheGrefg's personal details

Early career

David began uploading videos to YouTube around 2012, when he was little more than a teenager with a mediocre camera and too much free time. His first videos were gameplays of Minecraft, Call of Duty and other titles that dominated the YouTube scene at that time. It was not an immediate explosion of popularity: for years he built his audience video by video, with consistency and without big strokes of luck.

What set TheGrefg apart from other emerging creators was his ability to connect with the viewer without artifice. He spoke like any guy his age, naturally, without the forced “television presenter” tone that ruined the content of many channels of the era. That gradually won him a loyal community before any algorithm pushed him.

His definitive leap came with Fortnite, the battle royale that changed everything for him and for the Spanish-language streaming industry. From 2018, TheGrefg established himself as one of the leading figures of the game in Spanish.

TheGrefg today (2026)

To this day, David Cánovas Martínez is still active as a content creator. Although the weight of Fortnite as the dominant game has changed over the years, TheGrefg has known how to adapt to the rhythm of the industry. His streams combine Fortnite with other titles depending on the moment, and he keeps a regular activity on Twitch that lets him hold on to a loyal and solid audience base.

In 2025 and so far in 2026, TheGrefg has continued taking part in the Spanish-speaking gaming ecosystem, with appearances in projects from the Spanish creator community.

The Twitch record is still the reference the media use to introduce him, but it would be reductive to stop there. TheGrefg built for more than a decade before that moment, and he has spent another decade building since.

Conclusion

David Cánovas Martínez built his career as TheGrefg with years of steady work before the world found out who he was. The Twitch record did not fall from the sky: it was the result of a community built video by video, stream by stream, from a room in Murcia. Today he is still active, and his skin is still available in Fortnite for anyone who wants to wear it. That is no small thing.
