Ibai Llanos's Biography: From an Esports Audition to the Kings League

Few streamers have gone from commentating on video game matches to filling a stadium with 80,000 people, but Ibai Llanos managed it. The 31-year-old Basque is today one of the most influential Spanish-language content creators, the owner of an empire that includes the Kings League, La Velada del Año and one of the most followed channels on Twitch in the world. Here we explain how he got there and what he is doing in 2026.

Who is Ibai Llanos?

Ibai Llanos is a Spanish streamer, esports commentator and entrepreneur, born on March 26, 1995 in Bilbao, in the Basque Country. He is known for running one of the most followed channels on Twitch worldwide, for creating the Kings League alongside Gerard Piqué and for organising La Velada del Año, the most watched boxing event between content creators in the Spanish-speaking world. In 2026 he continues to expand both projects.

Ibai Llanos at a glance

Ibai Llanos's childhood and early years

Ibai Llanos Garatea was born in Bilbao in 1995. Unlike other figures in digital entertainment, his path did not begin in front of a vlog camera but commentating on video games: in 2014, at just 19, he auditioned for the Liga de Videojuegos Profesional (LVP) to commentate on League of Legends matches, one of the most popular esports of the moment.

That first step opened the door to a world that was still in its infancy in Spain. In August 2015 he became an official LVP commentator and, in the following years, he took part as a caster in large-scale international events, including the EU LCS and the League of Legends World Championships, establishing himself as one of the sector's leading voices up to 2020.

Suggested internal link: his rise within the world of esports and Spanish-language streaming connects him with other international figures who also built massive audiences from digital content, such as Luisito Comunica.

Ibai Llanos's professional career

The next big leap came in February 2020, when he joined G2 Esports as an exclusive content creator, one of the most important organisations in European esports. That stage, however, was short-lived: in January 2021 he decided to go independent and launch his own streaming brand, a decision that would prove key to everything that came afterwards.

That same 2021 he created La Velada del Año, a boxing event between content creators which, from its second edition onwards, became the most watched live broadcast of the year in consecutive fashion. A year later, in 2022, he founded the Kings League together with the former footballer Gerard Piqué, a 7-a-side football competition with its own rules in which the teams are owned by content creators and former footballers. Ibai is the president and owner of Porcinos FC, which competes in the Kings League España, as well as of Rōnin FC, in the Cuarta Catalana.
